Swooning for Obama
Posted by: Brent James on February 25, 2008
Apparently, the magic surrounding Barak Obama’s campaign for change is nothing short of overwhelming – for some attendees. Several incidents of fainting at Obama’s rallies have some wondering about the effect his aura is having on these hopeful fans. Inspiring millions is hard work, but so is reviving the afflicted. Just ask the paramedics.
Even so, let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Caution is the word of the day. What with all the embarrassed endorsees whose endorsements have failed to make the cut, it should stand to reason that the swelling acclaim is far too premature. I’m sure Mr. Obama would himself discourage the Messiah-like overtones of his follower’s enthusiasm.
So taken with the Senator’s charisma, mothers are considering “Barak” for baby names. Oh please. How about “George” as in George Washington. Until a leader is proven worthy, let’s not join the hypesters when the tumult gives sway. Make an assessment based on solid values.
Imagine the possible name combinations. I’m getting dizzy just thinking about it.
